C'mon get HAAPI (A) Create a Fantasy Advisory Board
We know Fantasy Football, right? It's all about selecting the players we think will perform best, and putting them together on our own hypothetical team.
This is like that — but instead we'll select advisors, mentors and leaders that would give us the best ideas and advice.
It's "fantasy," so these advisors can be as rich, famous, dead or imaginary as we like.
Identify five to start. And literally write their names down somewhere that's easy to see. (I'm partial to sticky notes on my monitor — but you do you.)
When working on any challenges or projects that could use different perspectives, "ask" the FAB. ("Fantasy Advisory Board")
It's easy to get stuck in our own thinking when approaching projects or challenges. But whatever it is we're working on, chances are that Steve Jobs — or Oprah Winfrey, or Seth Godin, or Voldemort — would approach it differently than we would.
So, to boost your thinking — imagine what their advice would be.
Imagine how they would solve the problem.
Then, imagine new ideas based on that.
The great thing about your FAB is that you can quickly add new brains to your board — and replace perspectives that might turn out less helpful than you'd hoped.
